Eugene Sotela I was totally caught off guard with this release. Having owned their A Lovely Sort of Death 7” I was not expecting this. The material on this cassette is very hypnotic and contains some very cool cinematic samples. It took me to recognize the gangster line but by the 2nd or 3rd listen I knew it was from the very cool 1981 movie Thief starring James Caan. The dialogue is sampled from the Leo gangster character and fits right in setting up the listener for a cool sonic ride. I confirmed that it was from Thief through the IMDB website. I know there are a lot of ambient/IDM listeners who do not like the distraction of dialogue from tv shows or movies in their music but I feel that this cassette would still have an awesome impact without the dialogue. The cassette cover is also beautifully designed with a metallic blue looking texture. I look forward to their Throne of Kanada LP release if it is to sound anything like this.

February 2017 update. I did not to risk playing my cassette anymore for fear of it getting chewed up or snapping so I went ahead and purchased the digital version of it. Strangely, the digital version is completely instrumental. Gone are all the dialogue samples from the movie Thief starring James Caan. I wonder if these were removed in fear of possible lawsuits from the film industry? Regardless, it's still a nice listening experience.
